Antonio Turco is a dynamic researcher with a strong track record in multidisciplinary research projects centered around cutting-edge nanotechnology and carbon nanomaterials. His expertise spans biomedical applications, environmental remediation, electrochemical sensors, and innovative characterization techniques aimed at uncovering the biological fate of nanomaterials. Dr. Turco consistently achieves groundbreaking results that surpass the current state-of-the-art, as demonstrated by his frequent appearances as the first and/or corresponding author in high-impact journals.
Currently, Dr. Turco is the Principal Investigator of the PRIN 2022 project, ‘MAGELLANO,’ focused on graphene nanocomposites for electrochemical sensors, and serves as Vice PI of the PRIN PNRR 2022 project, ‘CALINERO,’ aimed at enhancing neurovascular communication with carbon-engineered organs-on-a-chip. He has also led and played a pivotal role in various industrial and public projects, advancing the development of carbon-based innovative nanocomposites for water treatment, biomedicine, tissue engineering, sensors, and microfluidic devices.
Thanks to his research activities, he has obtained the National Scientific Qualification for the role of Associate Professor in the disciplinary sectors CHIM 03/A1 – Analytical Chemistry and CHIM 03/B2 – Chemical Foundations of Technologies.
Dr. Turco is dedicated to advancing the frontiers of nanotechnology research and mentoring the next generation of scientists through groundbreaking projects and collaborative efforts.
