TADF and RTP Materials: From Photophysics to Applications. Optoelectronic Devices, Sensors and Biomedicine

The international workshop “TADF and RTP Materials: From Photophysics to Applications – Optoelectronic Devices, Sensors and Biomedicine,” taking place at CNR Nanotec in Lecce from 31 August to 2 September 2026, will bring together researchers from Italy, France, Poland and Japan to foster scientific exchange on next-generation luminescent materials and promote new collaborations in the fields of Thermally Activated Delayed Fluorescence (TADF) and Room-Temperature Phosphorescence (RTP).

TADF and RTP represent two highly promising strategies for the design of molecular and supramolecular materials with advanced and tunable luminescent properties. Although based on different photophysical mechanisms, both approaches enable the exploitation of longer-lived emissive processes compared with conventional fluorescence, opening new perspectives for the development of functional systems for OLEDs and optoelectronic devices, sensors, photonics and biomedical applications. The workshop will address these topics from an interdisciplinary perspective, bringing together molecular design and synthesis, photophysics, time-resolved spectroscopy, electrochemistry, self-assembly and materials processing.

The international dimension will be one of the distinctive features of the initiative. The participation of researchers from different countries will provide a stimulating environment for sharing scientific results, methodologies and perspectives, strengthening existing collaborations while creating new scientific connections.

Particular attention will be devoted to early-career researchers, through the open seminar, contributions from PhD students and young scientists, and activities in the CNR Nanotec laboratories. These opportunities will provide valuable experiences for training, direct interaction with experts in the field, and integration into an international and interdisciplinary scientific network.

The concluding roundtable discussion will focus on identifying shared scientific priorities and exploring potential avenues for collaboration, including opportunities for national and international funding. The goal is to transform scientific exchange into new partnerships, research ideas and project opportunities.

The initiative is part of CNR Nanotec’s strategy of internationalisation and enhancement of its scientific expertise, further strengthening its role as a meeting point between fundamental research, technological innovation and applications.

The workshop therefore aims to provide a dynamic space for scientific exchange, training and research development, with the ambition of transforming advances in luminescent materials into new scientific and technological opportunities in optoelectronics, sensing and biomedicine.
