Carbon nanotube-based radiation detector

Carbon nanotubes (CNTs)-based photodetectors have been studied for application in fast photoconductive detectors from infrared (IR) to ultraviolet (UV) light, X-ray and gamma-ray photons.

Two device configurations on seminsulating  GaAs Si GaAs (as alternative to Silicon)

1) Single side: a spray coated carpet of CNTs  are deposited on one side of a SI-GaAs surface.

2) Double side: consist of a spray coated carpet of CNTs  on both side of Si-GAAs surface

In both cases, the photoresponse evidenced a relevant role of CNTs in increasing the detector performances in the UV layer due to the contribution of CNTs UV responsitivity.
